I completed my final clinical rotation with Devon and had a wonderful learning experience! He was professional, cared about the education he provided and always appeared invested in my experience. I was given a wide variety of hands-on experiences during my rotation and feel better prepared as a result. I walked away from my final day feeling much more confident and better prepared to enter the real world. I would highly recommend Devon as a clinical preceptor and mentor!
Devon is extremely talented as both a provider and teacher. He is thorough, patient, and knowledgeable. He has an amazing gift connecting with his patients and is a great example on how to communicate thoughtfully and comprehensively to advance your practice as a learning provider. He challenged me when necessary and appropriate, and always paired his critiques with feedback that I was able to learn from and take forward. The office and staff were very positive and welcoming as well. I had a wonderful two semesters with him, and took away many things I will bring forward to other clinical experiences and in my future practice.
I had the pleasure of having Devon Garcia as a preceptor for 90 hours during my DNP program at UCCS. During that time, it was evident that Devon not only had a passion for patient care, but also for teaching and precepting students. Devon never hesitated to give me opportunities for learning every aspect of the FNP role. Devon was great at giving constructive feedback and tips that have already helped me in my career; and this was always done in a private environment to not diminish me in front of patients. Devon provided advice and insight about the FNP role that I did not even know to ask. Devon goes out of his way to customize his precepting style for each student he takes on. Devon was always able to give evidence and experience-based rationales to support clinical decision making. He mastered the art of being present to give outstanding feedback, while simultaneously providing enough space and agency to students to foster independence and confidence. Devon transcended the preceptor role becoming a trusted mentor and role model for me. I cannot recommend Devon enough.
